At Halliday Engineering we work across the defence, shipping, mining and power generation sectors in the marine engineering industry. We design, procure, fabricate, and repair plant and marine assets interstate and overseas.
A hands-on role, this is an ideal opportunity for someone with existing experience as a Storeperson, looking for their next career move. You will be based in our workshop and head office at Rozelle, with access to our client sites across Sydney as required.
We start early and finish early! Hours are 7:00 am until 3:30 pm with additional hours as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will manage our higher value items (Enerpac, lifting equipment, welders, power equipment, bearing heaters, mag drills etc) and our speciality items. This would include allocation onto jobs, repairs and general tracking of equipment location.
- Manage all PPE stock, create orders and monitor supply levels.
Ensure we have sufficient levels of workshop consumables to support day to day operations. - Arrange, manage, and drive our site stock requirements.
- Participate in cycle counting and stock take and the associated resulting administration from these tasks.
- Arrange Electrical test and tag – arranging with external contractors.
- Lifting equipment test and tag (whilst completed by an external company, you would organise this for ad hoc items and ongoing training)
- Managing dock deliveries – unload incoming freight and load outgoing freight.
Delivering/pickup of equipment and jobs (You will come with an HR license, MR License holders preferred) - Pricing and purchasing of required consumables and equipment to support business needs.
- Be an active member of the operations team: provide input into product, quality, work process and work environment improvements and programs.
- Participate in cycle counting and stock take and the associated resulting administration from these tasks.
About you:
- Managing and organising consumables is your speciality.
- You are efficient and fast-paced.
- You are a hands-on person and organised, everything has a place.
- You take pride in your work and have the knowledge to support business requirements.
- You are an excellent communicator, with the ability to build relationships with peers and stakeholders.
- People come to you for your knowledge and skill – you are good at what you do, and you hit the ground running quickly.
- You will have administration experience to support logistics, ideally Microsoft and word processing.
- Jim software experience would be advantageous.
Essential:
- You must have experience in your field, those with Marine and Engineering experience will be preferred however this is not essential if you are knowledgeable in your field from other industries.
- Experience in a warehouse required, or logistics environment can be advantageous.
- Overhead gantry crane, dogging and rigger is an advantage.
- HR Licence – MR License holders will be highly preferred.
- High-risk LF license (forklift) – Good to have.
- You must be able to receive police clearance to access our client sites.
